This painting was inspired by a journey in 2024 to my place of birth , South Africa. Having left as a small child and moving to Australia, I had no memories, but plenty of photos in albums, growing up. On my return, I was surprised by how familiar it all felt, and the sense of being home. I hope the sense of joy I felt is obvious in this work.
